The news that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are expecting brought about much excitement Monday morning.
Prince William and Duchess Kate are "delighted," as is Queen Elizabeth II, People magazine and CNN report.
Meghan's mom, Doria Ragland, appeared overjoyed in in a statement released by Kensington Palace to People and Entertainment Tonight. “Ms. Ragland is very happy about this lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild," the statement reportedly read.
USA TODAY has reached out to Kensington Palace for comment.
Similarly, many on Twitter were thrilled to hear the news, just months after the two tied the knot on May 19. Price Harry, Meghan Markle, #RoyalBaby, Sussex and Kensington Palace were all trending topics in the U.S. after reports broke Monday morning.
Britain's Prime Minister, Theresa May, extended her congratulations on the social media site. "My warmest congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the happy news they are expecting a baby in the Spring," she tweeted. "Wishing them all the best."
"Me hearing about it," a user tweeted sharing a GIF of Fran Drescher gasping for air.
"Yayyy for love," a member of the Twitterverse wrote in celebration.
"A big congratulations to the #dukeandduchessofsussex," another person tweeted. "You're both an amazing couple and very inspirational. Love you both so very much. Best news ever! I'm sooooo over the moon!"
Others commented on how quickly the two conceived.
"Already?!" a user remarked.
"Harry ain't wasting any time," commented another, adding a GIF of Harry performing a mic drop.
The speed at which Harry and Meghan's romance occurred, gave another person perspective. "In just over 2 years Harry and Meghan have met, fallen in love, moved her entire life to London, had a royal wedding, and got pregnant," she tweeted. "I still haven't rehung the towel rail that fell off the wall in 2014."
Another user, sharing a photo of Rev. Michael Curry who delivered a memorable speech at the expectant parents' wedding, said she was "looking forward to the baptism already." The user added: "#bringthepastorback".
The timing of the announcement – so close to Princess Eugenie's nuptials Friday – did not go unnoticed.
"Princess Eugenie: 'So nice to have a little attention for once! Nobody can take this moment from me!' " someone posted, attaching a GIF representing what they believed were Harry and Meghan taking center stage.
For some, the announcement confirmed what they already speculated from Meghan's attire on Eugenie's big day: a loose-fitting, navy Givenchy coat, which could've hidden any burgeoning bump.
"I KNEW it! That coat dress was a dead giveaway!" a user exclaimed.
"Yeah, it was too obvious," another agreed.
"100% baby bump under that," a user predicted.
Congratulations to the parents-to-be!
