The University of Notre Dame has rescinded the honorary degree of a now defrocked US cardinal.
The Vatican announced this weekend Pope Francis defrocked former U.S. Cardinal Theodore McCarrick.
The Vatican found McCarrick guilty of soliciting for sex while hearing confession.
McCarrick was once the Archbishop of Washington
This means the 88-year-old McCarrick won't be allowed to celebrate Mass or other sacraments
The University of Notre Dame's president announced as a result of the Vatican's action, the school is rescinding the honorary degree conferred upon McCarrick in 2008.
McCarrick now becomes only the second person to have a degree rescinded by Notre Dame. Bill Cosby was the first.
