Elementary, middle school and high school students from Capistrano Unified School District got into the spirit of the season on Sunday, Dec. 15, performing in a musical fundraiser at Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point.

Guests at the “Merry Monarch” event were treated to vocal and instrumental performances, cocoa and cookies, visits with Santa and the lighting of the holiday tree, hosted by KTLA on-air personality Henry DiCarlo.

CUSD Principal Curt Visca emceed the event.

Featured performances included the Elementary Choir Ensemble from George White and John S. Malcom elementary schools; Niguel Hills Middle School Chamber Choir and Jazz Band; Don Juan Avila Middle School Orchestra; Capistrano Valley High School Choir; Holiday Carols with Anthony Small, Music Preserves Foundation.

Proceeds from the event will benefit CUSD music programs.
