A 54-year-old Indonesian woman has been devoured by a 7-meter-long python near a village on Muna Island. Authorities said Saturday that the family and fellow villagers of the woman, Wa Tiba, conducted a search for her after finding only her belongings near the vegetable garden she’d gone out to check. Villagers later found the snake with a bloated belly nearby. “When they cut open the snake’s belly they found Tiba’s body still intact with all her clothes. She was swallowed first from her head,” the village chief, Faris, was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. Reticulated pythons are common throughout Indonesia and other areas of Southeast Asia but they rarely kill humans.
