President Trump in a tweet on Sunday confirmed that the US military wiped out the terrorist who organized the attack on the USS Cole that killed 17 sailors.
“Our GREAT MILITARY has delivered justice for the heroes lost and wounded in the cowardly attack on the USS Cole. We have just killed the leader of that attack, Jamal al-Badawi.
Our work against al Qaeda continues. We will never stop in our fight against Radical Islamic Terrorism!,” the commander-in-chief posted on his Twitter account.
Suicide bombers using a boat packed with explosives attacked the Cole, a guided-missile destroyer, while it was refueling at the Yemeni port of Aden in Oct. 12, 2000.
Navy spokesman Capt. William Urban said last Friday that an airstrike targeting Badawi was carried out last Tuesday in Yemen.
The terror chief was indicted by a US grand jury in 2003 and charged with murder in the attack.
