Another 67 coronavirus cases reported on Diamond Princess cruise ship - New York Post

The Diamond Princess is morphing from vacation paradise to disease incubator.

Another 67 people have tested positive for coronavirus aboard the cruise ship, which had been docked near Tokyo since Feb. 5, Reuters reported.

Some 400 American passengers have been stuck on the ship, though the US government is now planning to evacuate them Sunday.

Two State Department planes are expected to take the Americans to Travis Air Force Base near Sacramento, Calif., or to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

They will be quarantined for two weeks after they arrive back home, AP reported.

Despite Herculean efforts by China and the international community to stem the spread of coronavirus, the number of cases keeps climbing across Asia as well as in Europe and the U.S.

On Friday, an 80-year Chinese tourist in France became the first person with the illness to die in Europe. Deaths also have been reported in Japan, the Philippines and Hong Kong.

So far, the death toll stands at 1,527 and 67,192 have been sickened.
